Accountancy Services
At Dunelm, we offer a comprehensive range of accountancy, taxation and business support services to individuals, sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and small businesses.
We understand that every individual and business has different financial needs. Our aim is to provide a professional, reliable and approachable service, with clear advice explained in straightforward language.
Whether you need assistance with annual accounts, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping or ongoing business advice, we can tailor our services to suit your circumstances.
Accounts Preparation
We prepare accounts for a variety of business structures and purposes, helping you meet your statutory obligations and understand your financial position.
Our accounts preparation services include:
-
Sole trader and partnership accounts
-
Limited company statutory accounts
-
Accounts for tax purposes
-
Accounts for Companies House filing
-
Management accounts
-
Financial accounts and information required by banks or other lenders
For limited companies, statutory accounts filed with Companies House and the Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC are separate requirements. However, the information contained in the accounts forms an important part of the Corporation Tax calculation.
We can prepare your accounts using bookkeeping records maintained by you, or provide bookkeeping services as part of a complete accountancy package.
Personal Tax Returns
We prepare Self Assessment tax returns for individuals who are self-employed, receive rental or investment income, are company directors or otherwise need to submit a tax return to HMRC.
Depending on your circumstances, this may include income from:
-
Self-employment
-
Partnership profits
-
Property rental
-
Employment
-
Investments and savings
-
Dividends
-
Capital gains
-
Other taxable income
We will help you identify the information required to prepare your return, calculate your tax liability and explain when payments are due.
Where we receive the necessary information in good time, we can also help you plan ahead for your tax payments and avoid unexpected liabilities.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax is being introduced in stages and will affect increasing numbers of sole traders and landlords.
From 6 April 2026, the requirements apply to individuals with qualifying income from self-employment and property of more than £50,000, based on the relevant previous year's tax return.
The thresholds are scheduled to reduce as follows:
-
More than £50,000 – from 6 April 2026
-
More than £30,000 – from 6 April 2027
-
More than £20,000 – from 6 April 2028
Those within MTD for Income Tax generally need to maintain digital records, use compatible software and submit quarterly updates to HMRC, alongside their annual tax return.
We can help you understand whether and when these requirements apply to you, choose suitable software and manage the additional record-keeping and reporting responsibilities.
Company Tax Returns
We prepare and file Corporation Tax returns (CT600) for limited companies and other organisations required to submit them to HMRC.
Our service can include:
-
Preparing Corporation Tax computations
-
Calculating taxable profits and Corporation Tax liabilities
-
Preparing and submitting Company Tax Returns
-
Reviewing available tax reliefs and allowances
-
Advising on Corporation Tax payment deadlines
We can prepare your Corporation Tax return using accounts prepared by us or, where appropriate, accounts and financial information supplied by you.
A Company Tax Return must normally be filed within 12 months of the end of the relevant accounting period. For companies with taxable profits of up to £1.5 million, Corporation Tax is generally payable nine months and one day after the end of the accounting period. Different payment arrangements apply to larger companies.
We will explain the relevant deadlines and the amounts expected to be payable, based on the information available.
Payroll Services
Managing payroll can be time-consuming and involves a number of reporting and compliance responsibilities.
Our payroll services help take this administration away from you, allowing you to concentrate on running your business.
Depending on your requirements, we can assist with:
-
Regular payroll processing
-
Employee payslips
-
PAYE and National Insurance calculations
-
Student loan and other relevant deductions
-
Statutory payments
-
Payroll reporting to HMRC
-
Year-end payroll procedures
-
Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) administration, where agreed
Payroll information is normally reported to HMRC through a Full Payment Submission (FPS) on or before each employee's payday. An Employer Payment Summary (EPS) may also be required in certain circumstances.
We can also advise you of the amounts due to HMRC and the relevant payment deadlines.
Whether you employ one person or have a larger workforce, we can discuss a payroll arrangement that meets your business needs.
Bookkeeping
Accurate and up-to-date financial records are essential for understanding your business performance and meeting your tax and reporting obligations.
We provide bookkeeping services to help keep your financial records organised and up to date.
Our services can be provided at our offices or, where appropriate, at your business premises. We can arrange regular ongoing bookkeeping or provide temporary support when your usual bookkeeper is unavailable, for example during sickness, holidays or maternity leave.

We can help you understand your VAT responsibilities, maintain appropriate records and ensure your VAT returns are prepared and submitted correctly.
Company Secretarial Services
Companies have ongoing statutory obligations and must ensure that their records and information held by Companies House remain accurate and up to date.
We can assist with a range of company secretarial and Companies House compliance services, including:

We can also advise on the documentation and procedures required when making changes to your company's structure or details.
We do not currently provide a registered office address service. However, we can advise you on the requirements and responsibilities associated with maintaining a registered office.
